Martin Luther 5th Centenary Reformation Conference
500 years ago on October 7th 1517, the Augustinian Friar, Martin Luther changed the world as it was then known. The publication of his 95 theses was to unleash a torrent of reform that would reach far beyond the spheres of religion and ecclesiastical authority.
The Irish Province of the Augustinian Friars in association with The Department of Theology & Religious Studies, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, presents a major Conference marking the Fifth Centenary of Martin Luther’s Reformation on October 7th, 2017 at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick.
The first part of the Conference will explore the beginnings of this Reformation, how it impacted on Ireland and on the Augustinian friars. The second part will explore the theological dimensions of the Lutheran Reformation and the current state of agreements between Roman Catholics and Lutherans.
The celebration of the conference will be concluded the following day, the 8th of October, when the Prior General of the Augustinians will preside at the 11.15 Mass. The Curraghower Singers will sing during this liturgy and will also give a short recital afterwards – all are very welcome.
Early registration is advisable as places are limited. Contact: Eileen Daly
